Who can apply

  • Non-profit organisations carrying out healthcare activities in Peterborough and the area covered by Peterborough and Stamford hospitals (postcodes PE1-PE11); and medical professionals (e.g. occupational therapists) applying on behalf of individuals whose health and financial position they know
  • Cambridgeshire Community Foundation's general rules: community-focused not-for-profit organisations, legally registered if income is over £5,000 (charities, CIOs, CICs/social enterprises/companies limited by guarantee running at least a year, community benefit societies, parish councils, PCCs, schools, qualifying sports clubs), with three unconnected committee members/trustees

What it funds

Capital and revenue costs for healthcare activities:

  • Preservation and promotion of good health and education about health issues
  • Palliative care for terminal or chronic conditions
  • Research into the causes, treatment and care of all forms of illness (can be anywhere in the UK)
  • Relief and treatment of physical and mental illness and rehabilitation

Single or rolling grants; preference for match-funded projects and activities benefiting the greatest number of people.

Larger awards than £20,000 can be considered with justification.

For individuals: equipment or a small home adaptation to help with disabilities.

Example: Peterborough United Foundation's Extra Time Hub for retired people's wellbeing.

What it will not fund

  • Healthcare activities relating to the delivery of Directed Enhanced Services (DES)
  • Activity that could be paid for by a surgery, the NHS or another source
  • Grants resulting in financial benefit to a person or group, e.g. through improvements or alterations to a property
  • Expenditure already incurred
  • Sponsored events or fundraising activities (Foundation-wide rule)
  • Debt or loans (Foundation-wide rule)
  • Projects promoting religion or political activity (Foundation-wide rule)
  • Statutory obligations replacing government funding (Foundation-wide rule)

How to apply

  1. Read the Foundation's application guidance and check eligibility
  2. Prepare the required documents
  3. From 2 November 2026, complete the online application form (organisations via the Foundation's form for the current round; individual referrals via the Harry Cureton individual grant form) and upload documents
  4. Submit by 11:59am on 1 February (or 1 August for the autumn round)

A member of the Grants Team may phone to clarify the application; a fund panel then decides.

Public acknowledgement of the grant will normally be a condition.

Have ready

  • Signed governing document confirming not-for-profit status with a dissolution clause
  • Accounts for the past year (or income and expenditure to date if under a year old)
  • Bank statement or paying-in slip from the last 3 months showing bank name, account name, sort code and number
  • Names of three independent management committee members/trustees and two unconnected signatories
  • Three quotes for capital items or equipment over £500
  • CICs: CIC 36 or latest CIC 34; co-operatives/community benefit societies: FCA registration or latest AR30
