The statutory Disabled Facilities Grant, which in England pays up to £30,000 towards essential adaptations so a disabled person can live safely and independently at home in Merton, such as ramps, stairlifts and accessible heating controls. Homeowners, private tenants and housing association tenants can apply after an occupational therapist assesses their needs. It is means tested on the disabled person's and their partner's income and capital, except for children under 19.

The statutory Disabled Facilities Grant pays up to £30,000 towards essential adaptations so a disabled person can live independently in their home in the City of Lincoln, such as ramps, level-access showers, wider doors and stair lifts. Owners and private tenants can apply, and the applicant need not be the disabled person. It is means tested on the disabled person's and their partner's income, except for a disabled child or young person. Needs are assessed by Lincolnshire County Council, through which all new referrals go.

Manchester District Nursing Institution Fund: grants for people in medical need

Grants, generally up to £500, for people on a low income in Manchester, Salford or Trafford who are sick, convalescent or disabled, for a specific item or help that gives medical relief and eases their suffering or helps their recovery. People cannot apply themselves: a health or social care worker, charity professional or support worker working directly with them applies on their behalf. Help for Health is a Hull-based grant-making charity that funds work improving the health and wellbeing of people in East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire (East Riding of Yorkshire, Hull, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire). It gives grants to local charities and organisations for medical and hospital care, facilities and equipment not replacing statutory provision, support for sick and disabled people and their carers, and medical research and education. Recent awards range from about £5,000 to community projects up to £75,000 for university studentships.

Transferable Audio-Visual Equipment on Rail Replacement Coaches

Department for Transport reimbursement grants for coach operators in Great Britain that buy transferable audio-visual equipment (portable 'AIR boxes', screens, induction loops) so rail replacement coaches can give the audible and visible next-stop information required by the Public Service Vehicles (Accessible Information) Regulations 2023. It repays up to 75% of the cost of equipping a vehicle, capped at £2,000 per vehicle, with lower rates (50% and 25%) for additional vehicles; operators with recent rail replacement work can claim the top rate for more vehicles. Equipment must already be bought, applications are assessed weekly, and the scheme closes at midday on 18 December 2026 or earlier if the £2 million runs out.

Small capital grants from Ford's UK charitable trust, running since 1975, for registered charities, state schools and PTAs, and non-profit clubs and societies anywhere in the UK. Grants help buy equipment, furniture and computers, contribute to refurbishments, or go towards a new vehicle. Small grants are up to £250 and large grants £251 to £3,000. Projects near Ford sites (Essex including East London, Bridgend, Southampton, Daventry, Manchester, Liverpool) are weighted more highly. Applications are by emailed form in fixed windows; the small grant window is open until 31 October 2026, while large grant applications are paused until a new form is published in October.

Grants from a 1944 Nottingham family trust to charities and not-for-profit community and voluntary groups for charitable projects that support people in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Projects can cover physical and mental health, disability, education, relief of poverty, distress and sickness, or the protection and welfare of children and vulnerable people. Most grants are £1,000 to £5,000, rising to £10,000 in exceptional circumstances; applications go through Forever Notts (Nottinghamshire Community Foundation) for two review meetings a year, and organisations need at least two years of filed accounts.

Grants of up to £15,000 from Historic England for co-created, community-led projects that use local heritage to help underrepresented communities understand, influence and shape the future of their neighbourhood. The communities must live in the 30% most deprived areas of England (IMD deciles 1-3), though the applicant can be based anywhere in England. Around 21 grants will be made, for projects completing by 11 August 2028. Match funding is not required.

Grants for UK charities with an annual turnover of £1m to £20m that support adults with a learning disability, particularly people with mild to moderate needs. The Foundation concentrates its main support on 6 to 10 charities, with annual grants of up to £30,000 for capital or revenue costs, one-off or for up to three years (reviewed each year). Charities send brief background information, which is kept on file; the next round funds the year starting April 2028, with information due by 30 September 2027, and shortlisted charities are invited to apply formally. The Earley Charity
The Earley Charity Grants to Individuals

Grants for individuals in difficult circumstances, for example because of low income or poor health, who live in The Earley Charity's area of benefit in Earley and east and central Reading. Grants buy a specific item or service and are mostly under £500; larger grants are occasionally made for specialist medical or therapeutic equipment, or for essential building works for owner-occupiers whose disability requires them. Every application needs a professional sponsor. Upcoming deadlines are 16 October 2026 (both tracks) and 13 November 2026 (£500 and under).

Cabinet Office (Disability Unit)
Access to Elected Office Fund: grant to administer the Fund

A multi-year Cabinet Office grant to one organisation to set up, launch (by March 2027) and run the new Access to Elected Office Fund until 31 March 2029. The Fund will pay the extra disability-related costs disabled candidates face in UK general elections, local and mayoral elections in England, and local and Assembly elections in Northern Ireland, such as BSL interpretation or accessible transport. It is for a Disabled People's Organisation or an expert third-sector organisation; disabled candidates themselves do not apply here. Up to £500k is available for 2026/27, covering both the administrator's costs and the money paid out to candidates.

Grants for young adults aged 19 to 35 in England and Wales living with mental, physical or learning disabilities, and by extension their families and carers. Charities, organisations and individuals (with professional counter-signature) can apply. Grants can cover equipment, therapy, care, treatment, education, training, access, accommodation and recreation. The maximum is unlikely to be more than £5,000, and most grants are much smaller. Trustees meet in January, April, July and October, and the deadline is the end of the month before; the next is 31 December 2026.

Applications open each year on 1 August and close on 1 October, for a trustees' meeting in late November. The 2026 round has closed: the next opens on 1 August 2027 and closes on 1 October 2027. Annual grants, ordinarily around £20,000 or more, to registered charities with projects primarily in England in three fields: care of and services for blind people; long-term care of people with learning disabilities; and care of and services for people with cancer and their families. The Trust prioritises opportunities to improve connection and belonging for people isolated by blindness, learning disabilities or cancer. Woking Borough Council

The mandatory Disabled Facilities Grant pays up to £30,000 towards adapting the home of a disabled person in Woking, for example ramps, stair lifts, wet-floor showers, ground floor facilities or wider doorways. It is means tested on the income, savings and capital of the applicant and their partner, except when applying for a child. The council's Homelink home improvement agency runs the whole process: an occupational therapist assesses what is needed and Homelink arranges and oversees the works. Stair lifts, wet rooms, ramps, hospital discharge and dementia-friendly works can be funded without a means test up to £15,000, and a discretionary top-up of up to £15,000 is available where works exceed the £30,000 maximum.
