Disabled Facilities Grant (Staffordshire)

The Disabled Facilities Grant in Staffordshire helps pay for major adaptations, such as stair lifts and accessible bathrooms, so that disabled people can live safely and independently at home. Requests start with Staffordshire Cares, and an Occupational Therapist assesses what is needed. Adaptations of £1,000 or less are generally free for people assessed as eligible for care and support; above that, a financial assessment decides any contribution.

  • Adaptations must be assessed as necessary and appropriate by an Occupational Therapist before funding can be approved
  • Adaptations of £1,000 or less are generally free if you have been assessed as eligible for care and support; for adaptations over £1,000 you may be asked to contribute, depending on a financial assessment
  • Stoke-on-Trent has its own council and is not covered by this page
