The Livewell Foundation

Grants of up to £10,000 from The Livewell Foundation, the charity set up by health and social care provider Livewell Southwest, for charities and community groups running projects that improve health and wellbeing, reduce mental and physical ill health or reduce social isolation in Plymouth, South Hams and West Devon. The large grants round opens once a year, and the current window closes on 30 November 2026. Projects addressing children's mental health, women's health or child obesity score extra points, and applications can be made in writing or by a video of up to five minutes.

Baron Davenport's Charity
Baron Davenport's Charity Emergency Grants

One-off crisis grants, mainly for one essential household item, for disadvantaged single women living alone or only with their children in the West Midlands, within 60 miles of Birmingham Town Hall. Applications must come from a support worker at an organisation supporting the woman (not from individuals or councils), and the referring body administers the grant, including a supervised shop. Applicants must have exhausted public funds and not had an emergency grant in the last five years. Applications are assessed in date order, usually within 2-4 weeks.

The Coles-Medlock Foundation
The Coles-Medlock Foundation grants

A Bath family foundation that gives grants to UK registered charities for international development projects in the developing world; it does not fund work in the UK. It is currently focusing its giving on the empowerment and education of young girls (and, per its application page, women in commerce), and says applications outside this are unlikely to succeed. Grants range from £500 to £15,000, most £5,000-£10,000, and can be spread over up to five years. Trustees review applications quarterly.

Foundation Scotland
Caithness Futures Maternity Grants

A £250 grant for every pregnant woman living in Caithness who is in the third trimester, to ease the cost of travelling to Inverness for maternity care. Funded by RWE's Camster II Wind Farm through the Caithness Futures fund and run by Foundation Scotland as a pilot. The money can go on travel, accommodation or childcare for older children, or on anything else that helps you get ready for the baby. Grants are given to anyone who meets the criteria, with no deadline.

MOPAC Violence Against Women and Girls Grassroots Fund 2027-2030
£45,000 – £180,0004 November 2026
Three-year grants of £45,000 to £150,000 (up to £50,000 a year) for grassroots organisations already providing violence against women and girls (VAWG) services in London. Partnerships of up to three organisations can apply for up to £180,000. This is the third round of the Mayor's fund, and at least 60% of it is prioritised for specialist VAWG organisations led by and for Black and minoritised women and girls. Grants run from February 2027 to January 2030 and come with a required capacity-building and evaluation programme; organisations with income under £500,000 are prioritised.

John Moores Foundation
Grants for Northern Ireland

John Moores Foundation (registered charity 1207661) makes grants of up to £5,000 a year to small registered charities in Northern Ireland (income normally under £250,000). It funds running costs, capacity building, and volunteer training and out-of-pocket expenses for community work with people facing disadvantage, such as people in poverty, refugees, minority ethnic communities, women and girls, carers and homeless people. Applications are accepted all year, but you must contact the Northern Ireland office first to get the online Expression of Interest form. Decisions take 5-6 months; in 2024/25 it funded 80% of Northern Ireland applicants, with an average grant of £2,990.

Quartet Community Foundation
T G Heckels Fund

A bursary for individual students, administered by Quartet Community Foundation, giving up to £3,000 towards living costs or tuition fees to female second and third year undergraduates studying Mathematics, Physics or Engineering at the University of Bristol who are the first in their immediate family to study these subjects. The average grant in previous years has been £1,500. The 2026/27 round is open from 22 September to 1pm on 22 October 2026.

The Randal Foundation Fund (Shropshire)

Small grants of up to £3,000 for grassroots groups in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin with an average annual turnover of £50,000 or less, for projects that save lives or significantly improve them. Projects must fit one of six themes: alleviating extreme poverty, healthcare for the vulnerable, tackling mental ill-health, education for the most disadvantaged children and young people, prisoner rehabilitation, or women and children at risk of violence and exploitation. It is an open round with applications considered on submission until the funds are fully allocated, and projects must be delivered within 12 months. Grantees must report how many lives were saved or significantly improved.

Active Spaces Fund

London Marathon Foundation's Active Spaces Fund pays for projects in London that improve and activate spaces, places and facilities so that the least active children, young people and underserved groups can lead active and healthy lives. Organisations can apply for £10,000 to £80,000 towards capital and/or revenue project costs; more than £80,000 is by invitation only after contacting the Foundation first. Applications are two-stage: an expression of interest accepted at any time, then (if invited) a full application to one of four rounds a year.

John Moores Foundation (registered charity 1207661) makes grants to small, grass-roots, charitable organisations in Merseyside (including Skelmersdale, Halton and Ellesmere Port). It funds running costs, salaries, capacity building and volunteer costs for work with people facing disadvantage. Examples include people in poverty, refugees, Black and racial minority communities, women and girls at risk of violence, carers and homeless people. Applicants with income over £750,000 are unlikely to be funded. Grants can run for up to three years for salaries, and the average Merseyside grant in 2024/25 was about £6,700-£6,800. The Rhododendron Trust
Rhododendron Trust grants

A small family charitable trust that makes one-off donations of £1,000 to £2,000 to UK registered charities, mainly for humanitarian welfare work in the developing world and the UK, plus some arts and wildlife/nature charities. It favours smaller charities, where a donation makes a significant difference. Applications are by email at any time, and the Trustees make all decisions once a year at their March meeting. The Trust gave £71,500 to 62 charities in 2023-24 and receives hundreds of applications a year.

Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner
Safe and Sound Communities Fund

Grants of £1,000 to £10,000 from the Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for community projects that support the Safe and Sound Plan: visible and accessible community services, professionalism and standards, and stronger public safety partnerships. Projects must show how they reduce harm or offending, and those supporting children, women and young people are prioritised. The OPFCC is evidence-led and points applicants to the Youth Endowment Fund Toolkit; children and young people's interventions rated low in the toolkit are not funded.

The Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation for Peace
Tim Parry Johnathan Ball Foundation Grants

Grants of up to GBP 10,000 to UK charities and non-profits working on violence against young people, women and girls, and on support for victims of violent crime and terrorism. The Foundation was created after the 1993 IRA bombing in Warrington that killed Tim Parry and Johnathan Ball, and became a grant-maker in 2025 after selling its Peace Centre. Applications are online, accepted all year round, and the Foundation says it keeps its processes simple because it knows what fundraising is like from the other side.

The Charles Hayward Foundation's Social & Criminal Justice category funds UK registered charities with annual income of £350,000-£4 million for projects that stop people entering the criminal justice system or help those in contact with it rebuild their lives. Grants are £15,000-£25,000 a year for one to three years. Applications are a four-page emailed proposal in a two-stage process with three deadlines a year; the next is 5 February 2027.

Grants of £1,500 to £25,000 from the Football Foundation to make grassroots football facilities in England more inclusive, safe and welcoming for women and girls. It pays for a defined list of items such as female and officials' changing spaces, toilets, showers, baby change and breastfeeding facilities, lighting/CCTV, covered spaces and clubhouse improvements. The grant covers up to 75% of project costs, so you need 25% match funding, and you must submit two quotes per item.

The Elizabeth L Rathbone Charitable Trust grants
Up to £3,000
Small grants, normally up to £3,000, from a long-established Merseyside family trust for charities and community organisations that benefit disadvantaged people in Merseyside. Aims include alleviating poverty through education, advancing the interests of women, helping the less able, certain medical fields, the arts and community projects for disadvantaged people; priority groups include disadvantaged children and adults, women, young people, homeless people, disabled people and refugees. Trustees meet twice a year (usually March/April and September/October) with an application deadline before each meeting.

It funds only small and medium sized charities, and a local charity outside Merseyside is not eligible however well it fits the themes.

Womble Bond Dickinson Foundation
Womble Bond Dickinson Foundation Grant Giving Scheme

One-off grants of up to £5,000 from the charitable foundation of law firm Womble Bond Dickinson for registered charities in England and Wales. Projects must fit one or more of these themes: climate action and environmental protection, LGBTQ+ inclusion, inclusion of people from ethnic minority backgrounds, women's opportunities in life and work, disability and neurodiversity inclusion, or mental health and wellbeing. Charities with projects near the firm's English offices (Bristol, Leeds, London, Newcastle, Plymouth, Southampton, Teesside) get priority. The current round closes at 5pm on 11 January 2027. The scheme has given about £150k to 33 charities so far.

The Allen Lane Foundation
Allen Lane Foundation Grants

Grants of up to £15,000 (single-year, or spread over two or three years) from the Allen Lane Foundation for small UK charities and voluntary groups working with specific groups that experience marginalisation or discrimination, through seven programmes: female asylum seekers and refugees; Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities; women affected by the criminal justice system (and people in prison for violence against women); older people (generally 70+); people affected by violence or abuse; people with moderate or severe mental health conditions; and young people aged 12-21 who have fallen through the gaps. Most grants are much smaller, averaging £5,000-£6,000, and can pay for core and running costs, salaries or projects. Local organisations must have income/expenditure under £100,000 (national ones under £250,000), and work within Greater London is not funded. Applications are accepted all year.

Esmée Fairbairn Foundation
Esmée Fairbairn Foundation grants

Large grants (at least £30,000, no maximum, usually for 3-5 years) for core, project or unrestricted costs. They go to constituted organisations with turnover of £100,000 or more doing charitable work that fits one of 13 funding priorities under Our Natural World, A Fairer Future, and Creative, Confident Communities. The Foundation looks for work aimed at systemic change that is led by lived experience and collaborative. Only about 5% of expressions of interest in 2025 led to a grant.
