Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner

Safe and Sound Communities Fund

Grants of £1,000 to £10,000 from the Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for community projects that support the Safe and Sound Plan: visible and accessible community services, professionalism and standards, and stronger public safety partnerships. Projects must show how they reduce harm or offending, and those supporting children, women and young people are prioritised. The OPFCC is evidence-led and points applicants to the Youth Endowment Fund Toolkit; children and young people's interventions rated low in the toolkit are not funded.

Who can apply

  • Community and voluntary organisations delivering projects in Northamptonshire (countywide, West or North Northamptonshire, or individual districts/boroughs)
  • The form accepts registered charities, companies limited by guarantee, CICs, community/voluntary and neighbourhood groups, and unincorporated groups; an unincorporated organisation needs a legally constituted organisation to act as its accountable body
  • Due diligence checks include public and employer's liability insurance, a management committee or board of at least three unrelated people, recent signed accounts, a bank account with two signatories, and safeguarding, data protection, equality and financial controls policies
  • All applicants must supply a constitution or governing document, bank statements and accounts

What it funds

Community initiatives in Northamptonshire that support the aims of the Commissioner's Safe and Sound Plan and can show how they reduce harm or offending, linked to at least one priority:

  • Visible and accessible community services
  • Professionalism and standards
  • Stronger public safety partnerships

Projects supporting children, women and young people are prioritised.

New work or support/extension of existing work can be funded; funding is typically for one year, though multi-year funding may occasionally be agreed.

Up to 50% of salary costs can be covered.

What it will not fund

  • Capital costs, including equipment such as CCTV, security fencing and target hardening items
  • Building costs
  • More than 50% of salary costs
  • Projects duplicating the Pol Ed resources already funded for schools and youth settings (e.g. knife crime education)
  • Training or education projects unless the programme delivered is accredited
  • Children and young people's interventions rated in the low category of the Youth Endowment Fund Toolkit
