Hampton Fund
Hampton Fund Community Grants
Hampton Fund (registered charity 211756) gives Community Grants to local charities, voluntary organisations and community groups working with people in financial, physical or emotional hardship in Hampton, Hampton Hill, Hampton Wick, Teddington, Twickenham and Whitton (London Borough of Richmond upon Thames). Hampton and Hampton Hill are its primary area. It can fund an organisation's broader aims (including core costs) as well as specific projects. New requests are usually for one year, and continuation funding is available to current partners. After a strategic review, applicants must contact the Community Grants Manager before applying.

Who can apply
- Local charities, voluntary sector organisations and community groups providing services for people in hardship in the area of benefit
- The fund usually works only with registered charities or CIOs
- At the trustees' discretion, in exceptional circumstances, it may fund a CIC (usually with an established three-year track record, a community purpose matching the charity's objects and an unambiguous asset lock) or a constituted community organisation or other constituted not-for-profit organisation local to the Hampton Fund area
- Beneficiaries must live in Hampton or Hampton Hill (primary area), or in Hampton Wick, Teddington, Twickenham or Whitton
- Organisations are expected to have a published reserves policy (normally 6-9 months of running costs) and a safeguarding policy, and to show good governance and financial health
What it funds
Work that relieves financial, physical or emotional hardship among residents of the area of benefit. Examples include:
- Households unable to meet basic needs, afford a warm home or food, or facing housing problems
- People with ongoing health problems or disabilities
- People who are marginalised or isolated
- Carers
- People with depression or anxiety
- People experiencing loneliness
- People affected by bereavement or trauma
Applicants must show how their work improves financial, physical and emotional resilience and wellbeing: basic needs met, better resilience and wellbeing, and better awareness of and confidence in accessing support.
The fund is open to funding broader organisational aims (e.g. core costs) as well as specific services or projects.
New funding requests are usually for one year; current partners can apply for continuation funding, and some receive multi-year funding.
What it will not fund
- Services which are the clear responsibility of a statutory body
- Grants to individuals for private and post-compulsory education
- Retrospective funding, both capital and revenue
- National general charitable appeals
- Endowment appeals
- The advancement of religion and religious groups, unless they offer a non-religious service to the community
- Projects of a political nature
- Animal welfare
- Commercial and business activities
- Social enterprises, except Community Interest Companies (CICs)
Trustees are unlikely to fund organisations with 10 or more months of free reserves, or to fund services that duplicate others in the local area
Work in the rest of Richmond upon Thames or elsewhere is unlikely to be supported unless a significant number of beneficiaries are from the area of benefit
