Leeds City Council
Community Committee Wellbeing Fund and Youth Activity Fund
Leeds City Council's eight community committees each receive a yearly Wellbeing Fund and Youth Activity Fund, which they award as grants to local community projects and youth activities that meet the committee's local priorities. The Wellbeing Fund supports the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of the committee area, and the Youth Activity Fund pays for activities for children and young people aged 8 to 17. There are small grants of up to £1,000 per ward and large grants of over £1,000 per ward. The committees made 350 grants totalling over £1.2 million in 2024/25.

What it funds
- Wellbeing Fund: projects supporting the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of the community committee area and meeting the priorities in the committee's forward plan, for example community events, environmental improvements, crime prevention initiatives, or opportunities for sport and healthy activities for all ages (committees hold revenue and capital budgets)
- Youth Activity Fund: activities for children and young people aged 8 to 17 in the committee area
Small grants are up to £1,000 per ward; large grants are over £1,000 per ward.
Projects must be good value for money and be open to everyone irrespective of religion, gender, marital status, race, ethnic origin, age, sexual orientation or disability.
What it will not fund
- An organisation's regular business running costs
- Projects promoting political or religious viewpoints to the exclusion of others
- Projects that directly result in the business interests of any members of the organisation making a profit
- Retrospective funding: activities completed or items purchased before the application is approved
- Costs the group can cover from other funds
How to apply
- Check your local community committee's priorities (its forward plan) on the Democracy Leeds website
- Contact the community committee support team (communitycommitteefunding@leeds.gov.uk, 0113 378 5808) to check eligibility and get an application form
