Watford Community Housing
Community Chest Fund
Watford Community Housing's Community Chest gives grants of up to £500 to constituted community groups and organisations for events and initiatives delivered in the housing association's local community areas. Projects must meet one of its community priorities: wellbeing, confident online, community capacity, support to succeed or working with others. A panel that includes residents reviews requests monthly, and groups can normally receive one grant per financial year.

What it funds
Local community events and initiatives delivered in one of Watford Community Housing's local community areas that meet one of its community priorities:
- Wellbeing
- Confident online
- Community capacity
- Support to succeed
- Working with others
The funder says it supports groups that work to make life better for people or the environment.
Past grants have funded fun days, gardening projects, fundraising events, a community cafe and sensory activities for children, buying items such as garden tools, bouncy castle hire, venue hire, transport, specialist equipment, computers and cafe equipment.
Up to £500.
What it will not fund
- Projects not delivered in one of Watford Community Housing's local community areas
- Projects that do not meet one of the community priorities (wellbeing, confident online, community capacity, support to succeed, working with others)
- More than one grant per group in a financial year (normally)
How to apply
- Complete the online Community Chest application form on the Our community work page, or download the PDF application form
- Give your group details, amount requested (max £500), a description of your group and of the project (people benefiting, locations, whether participants are charged, promotion and duration)
- Complete the funding table showing each item, who is paying for it (Watford Community Housing, your own money or other sources), whether it is secured, and the total project cost
- If using the PDF, email it to community@wcht.org.uk (only one form, online or emailed, is needed)
- The funding panel, which includes residents, reviews requests monthly; feedback is given within one week of a decision
Apply as early as possible so a decision is reached before your event takes place.
