What it funds
Community-led health and wellbeing projects or activities that tackle health, social and economic inequalities across communities in Tameside (micro grants), and building the capacity of VCFSE groups and organisations that deliver such activity (small grants). Preference goes to applications that meet one or more priorities:
- Clearly addressing health, social and economic inequality in Tameside communities
- Embodying the seven Community-led Wellbeing principles
- Involving people with lived experience in co-producing and delivering the project
- Supporting sustainability and self-funding beyond the grant
- Bringing diverse people together to build more resilient communities
- Being open to people living anywhere in Tameside
The fund supports the Tameside Locality Plan themes (Best Start in Life; Opportunity to Learn and Earn; Safe, Green and Supportive Communities; Healthy and Active Lives).
Costs are funded on a full cost recovery basis, including equipment, one-off events, staff costs, training, organisation running costs, transport and volunteer expenses.
What it will not fund
- Contingency costs, loans, endowments or interest
- Paying someone to write your bid
- Profit-making or fundraising activities
- VAT you can reclaim
- Statutory activities
- Retrospective costs (expenses already incurred)
- Organisations that can pay profits to directors, shareholders or members
- Organisations with outstanding monitoring owed to Action Together for other grants (must be completed to receive funding)
How to apply
- Read the TCF Guidance Notes 2026 and decide between a micro grant (up to £1,000) or a small grant (up to £11,000)
- Join Action Together CIO (free) if you are not already a member
- Speak to your local Action Together Community Development Officer (strongly encouraged)
- Complete the micro or small grant Word application form, answering every section (no word limits; 2-3 paragraphs per answer is enough)
- Optionally include a short video, audio clip, quote or picture from people who will benefit (contact funding@actiontogether.org.uk to send a video)
- Email the form and supporting documents to funding@actiontogether.org.uk by 12 noon on Monday 9 November 2026
- Micro grants are decided by Action Together; small grants by the Live Well Leadership Group (VCFSE leaders, Tameside Council Population Health and Action Together)
- If funded, spend the grant and deliver by 30 January 2028, then submit an end-of-project report and case study
Applications opened 29 September 2026; all grants will be awarded before 31 December 2026.
Grantees without an up-to-date Quality in Action Award or Health Check may be asked to complete one as a grant condition.
