Cheshire Community Foundation (funded by Radius Limited)
Radius Foundation Grants Programme
Grants of up to £15,000 from Cheshire Community Foundation, funded by Radius Limited, for organisations with an existing presence in Crewe. Projects must run for up to 12 months and cover one of three areas: empowering young people, championing wellbeing and inclusion, or promoting diversity and gender equality. Any costs can be funded, including salaries and core costs, if each cost links to specific outcomes. This is the programme's second year; it opened on 21 September 2026 and closes at 11.59pm on 1 November 2026.

Who can apply
- Not-for-profit organisations with an existing geographic presence in the Crewe area
- They must meet Cheshire Community Foundation's grantmaking policy and minimum requirements: a governing document with charitable objects, a not-for-profit clause and a dissolution clause or asset lock (CICs need an asset lock naming a nominated body, and Articles that match Companies House); at least three unrelated trustees or directors; accounts dated within the last 18 months (new organisations can give a financial plan); a bank account in the organisation's name with two unrelated signatories; and an organisation-named safeguarding policy, a named safeguarding lead, appropriate training and DBS checks
- Registration as a charity is not required, but organisations with income over £5,000 are expected to register
- The Foundation generally does not fund organisations with income over £3 million, or those holding more than 12 months' unrestricted reserves, without clear justification
- Statutory bodies are excluded
What it funds
- Projects up to 12 months long in one of three programme areas
- Empowering young people means supporting skills, education and pathways into employment, particularly for young people facing barriers
- Championing wellbeing and inclusion means reducing stigma and barriers, improving access to support, and enabling independence for people facing mental health challenges or disability (physical, sensory, neurological or hidden)
- Promoting diversity and gender equality means championing fairness and equal opportunity, with a focus on underrepresented groups and gender equity
- Grants can pay for salaries, project costs, equipment, travel and core costs, but each cost must link tangibly to specific outcomes, ideally with numbers of people affected
- Grants must be fully spent within 12 months of receipt
What it will not fund
- Work benefiting people outside Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester or Warrington
- Retrospective activity
- Statutory bodies such as local authorities, NHS bodies, hospitals and prisons (schools only in limited cases)
- Capital or building projects
- Minibuses and vehicles
- Religious promotion or proselytising
- Medical treatment
- General awareness raising or lobbying
- Political activity
- Bursaries or contributions to fundraising events
- Projects that cannot start within a year of the award
- Unspecified expenditure
- Competitive sport or league participation without wider outcomes
How to apply
- Read the programme brief, the key questions and the grantmaking policy and minimum requirements
- Optionally email grants@cheshirecommunityfoundation.org.uk or call 01606 330607 to arrange a chat
- Register and complete the online application form (Salesforce form 'Radius2026') by 11.59pm on 1 November 2026, naming the one programme theme your work fits best
- Applications are assessed during November; depending on demand, ones that fit the programme aims less closely may not go through full assessment, and those applicants may hear sooner
- A panel meets in the week commencing 7 December, and decisions go to applicants before the end of December
Alternative ways to apply (paper, video, verbal, face-to-face) are available on request for anyone facing barriers.
The application questions include safeguarding (who is responsible and when they were last trained), need, outcomes, track record, sustainability and how success will be measured.
