Camden Giving

The Equality Fund 2026

Camden Giving's flagship and only unrestricted fund, giving two-year grants of £30,000 in total to small Camden-based charities and social enterprises (annual income under £300k) tackling inequalities experienced by Camden residents due to race and/or disability. This round the resident panel has set a narrow focus: organisations addressing poor outcomes of the housing or education systems for people from the global majority and/or disabled people, through advocacy, mentoring, campaigning or creating third spaces. Decisions are made by a panel of 10 Camden residents with lived experience of racism and/or ableism; about 8 grants are expected (27 applications were received last year, when 7 grants were made). Successful grantees also receive a 10% top-up for staff wellbeing, voted for by alumni.

Who can apply

  • Organisations based in Camden with an annual income under £300k (no minimum income)
  • They must deliver activities for charitable purposes, for example registered charities, CICs, CIOs, tenants' and residents' associations (TRAs) and private companies limited by guarantee without share capital; the fund is described as for small charities and social enterprises
  • Groups without their own bank account working through a fiscal host such as Social Change Nest can supply their Open Collective page in place of governing document, accounts and bank statement
  • You must be able to prove you have been operational and working towards one or both of the fund's missions (race and/or disability inequality) for at least 12 months, or have worked towards them through a We Make Camden Kit funded project
  • Your organisation's primary focus must be addressing poor outcomes of the housing or education systems on people from the global majority and/or disabled people, through advocacy, mentoring, campaigning or creating third spaces
  • Previous Equality Fund grantees may apply if their grant has ended; those with an active Equality Fund grant or overdue reporting are not eligible
  • We Make Camden Kit grantees are welcome if reporting is not overdue

What it funds

Unrestricted funding for organisations whose primary focus is one or more of the following criteria:

  • Organisations that address poor outcomes of the housing or education systems on people from the global majority and/or people with disabilities
  • Advocacy
  • Mentoring
  • Campaigning
  • Creating third spaces for people who experience inequalities within the housing and/or education systems due to their race or disabilities
  • Sustaining existing work or planning new work (both accepted)

How to apply

  1. Read the criteria and FAQs on the Equality Fund 2026 page; Camden Giving strongly advises getting in touch first to talk through the criteria (grants@camdengiving.org.uk)
  2. Read Camden Giving's AI Principles if you plan to use AI to help write your application
  3. Complete the online application form (Apply here, tfaforms.com/5234680), available in a language that suits you: eligibility questions, organisation details and finances, then 13 questions on your focus (race/disability), system (education/housing), approach, two-year plan (up to 500 words), reach, outcomes, challenges and a case study
  4. Upload a supporting document (e.g. a beneficiary testimony, theory of change or timetable of activities) and the required documents
  5. Optionally add a video pitch of no more than 2 minutes (link to YouTube/Vimeo, or email/WhatsApp it)
  6. Agree the declarations (counter fraud, data sharing, reporting, staff wellbeing top-up condition) and submit by midday (12:00) on Thursday 15 October 2026
  7. A panel of Camden residents shortlists on 19 October and shares feedback with applicants on 20 October 2026
  8. The panel makes final decisions on 16 November 2026; outcomes are communicated on 20 November 2026

The form can be saved and resumed later; Camden Giving recommends keeping an offline copy (e.g. in Word).

The grant is paid in phases: 50% (£15k) in year 1, 40% (£12k) at 12 months subject to year-1 data and a 'Coffee and Chat' check-in, and the final 10% (£3k) after the final 'Coffee and Chat' report.

Reporting is through anonymised member data (Camden Giving recommends the free Plinth platform) and yearly interviews with the panellists who awarded the grant.

Have ready

  • Governing document (HMRC registration letter, Articles of Association or Constitution)
  • Latest set of accounts (new organisations: projected income and expenditure)
  • Latest bank statement (from the previous calendar month)
  • Public liability insurance
  • Safeguarding policies, including a named Safeguarding Lead and their contact details
  • Confirmation (tick box) that all relevant DBS checks have been undertaken
  • One supporting document of your choice (e.g. beneficiary testimony, theory of change, current timetable of activities)

Groups using a fiscal host such as Social Change Nest can provide a screenshot of their Open Collective page instead of the governing document, accounts and bank statement. If you cannot upload a required document, upload a Word document explaining why.
