Harborough District Council

Ward Member Community Grant and Rural Grant Scheme

Two new Harborough District Council schemes for local capital and revenue projects, applied for through the same process. Each ward councillor has an allocation to support projects in their ward (minimum grant £500), and a separate Rural Grant Scheme gives £500 to £20,000 to projects in smaller villages and rural parishes that have had a smaller share of past funding. Applicants first approach their ward councillor, who decides which projects to back; the two grants can be combined.

Who can apply

  • Community organisations and parish or town councils with a project benefiting residents and communities in a Harborough district ward; the council runs grant surgeries for both
  • The Rural Grant is only for projects in the eligible parishes the council lists
  • Applicants must first approach their ward councillor, who decides which projects to support; councillors may also suggest projects to organisations and can combine allocations across wards

What it funds

  • A range of capital and revenue projects and initiatives that benefit residents and communities in the ward
  • Rural Grant: additional funding specifically for smaller villages and rural communities in the listed eligible parishes

How to apply

  1. Find your ward councillor and approach them with your project
  2. Optionally book a one-to-one grant surgery or contact communitygrants@harborough.gov.uk for advice
  3. If your councillor supports the project, complete the shared application and assessment process for the Ward and/or Rural Grant
