Flutter UK & Ireland, delivered by Sported

Cash4Clubs

Cash4Clubs gives unrestricted £2,000 grants (€2,000 in Ireland) to not-for-profit sports clubs and community organisations across the UK and Ireland that use sport for social purpose. It is funded by Flutter UK & Ireland, a sports betting and gaming company, so only organisations that work exclusively with adults aged 18 and over can apply: any junior members or under-18 activities make the whole organisation ineligible. Priority goes to groups in areas of high deprivation and those engaging under-represented adults. Applications are open until 5pm on 1 January 2027.

Who can apply

  • Not-for-profit organisations in the UK or the Republic of Ireland, including charities, CICs (not limited by shares), community groups and traditional sports clubs and teams
  • You do not need to be a sports organisation, but you must be delivering or planning to deliver sport or physical activity to adults
  • The organisation must work exclusively with adults aged 18+: if it has any junior members or runs any activities, teams or membership for under-18s, it is ineligible, even when the request is only for an adult team
  • Applicants must show they use sport for social purpose, such as working in disadvantaged communities, engaging under-represented adults, or tackling rural isolation, physical and mental health or community cohesion
  • You need a governing document, charity number or company number, and a bank account in the organisation's name (payments cannot go to personal accounts)
  • Assessment prioritises organisations with an annual turnover under £250,000, areas of high deprivation (Indices of Multiple Deprivation, Pobal HP Deprivation Index), and a spread across the UK, Ireland and different sports
  • Past Cash4Clubs recipients (2023 to 2025) can re-apply, but new groups are prioritised if the fund is oversubscribed
  • One application per club

What it funds

Unrestricted funding for anything that will support your organisation to keep the doors open, to continue or grow your sports activities for adults, for example a contribution towards:

  • Venue hire
  • Utilities such as heating or lighting
  • Equipment
  • Coaching costs
  • Volunteer expenses
  • Kit
  • Marketing and communications
  • Training and qualifications
  • Insurances and affiliations
  • Facility refurbishments

priority goes to groups supporting adults living in areas of high deprivation; increasing access to sport for under-represented groups (women, people from racially diverse communities, disabled people and people from the LGBTQ+ community); encouraging adults who would not usually take part, for example to support wellbeing or tackle loneliness and rural isolation; or addressing wider social issues such as anti-social behaviour or community cohesion. Five of the successful applicants (one each in England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales) are chosen for a larger £10,000 grant; you cannot apply for these directly.

What it will not fund

  • Organisations who work with young people aged under 18, even if the funding is specifically for adult activity
  • Any activities that take place outside of the UK and Ireland, including trips abroad
  • Any costs associated with elite sport or talent development
  • Profit making companies, including CICs limited by shares, and sole traders
  • Individuals
  • Any spending commitment made before the date that the applicant accepts the funding
  • Separate awards to different teams within the same club (one grant per club)

How to apply

  1. Read the Applicant Guidance Notes and FAQs on the Sported Cash4Clubs page to check eligibility and prepare your answers
  2. Complete the online application form (open from 9am on 1 October 2026 to 5pm on 1 January 2027): six questions about your organisation, plans, need, difference made and participants (up to 200 words each), plus an itemised budget
  3. Upload your governing document or charity/company number details and a recent bank statement, and self-declare your policies and insurance
  4. Sported contacts applicants after the deadline with the decision or to request more information; shortlisted applicants for the £10,000 grants are asked for extra information
  5. If successful, spend the grant within the set period and complete a short feedback form

applications by email are not accepted unless agreed in advance; contact grants@sported.org.uk if you have accessibility needs or face barriers to applying.

Have ready

  • Governing document (such as a constitution), or charity or company number
  • A bank statement in the name of your organisation, dated within the last 3 months, clearly showing the sort code and account number
  • Safeguarding policy (if you work with vulnerable adults)

you also self-declare that you have an up-to-date safeguarding policy, a health and safety policy and relevant insurance for your activities. The grant is not paid until all due diligence documents are received.
