Who can apply

  • Community groups, clubs and organisations with projects benefiting the Teign Estuary and adjacent coastline (the coast between Torbay and the Exe Estuary, including Dawlish, Holcombe and the Ness), in Teignbridge
  • Applications must be supported (signed off) by the relevant organisation, Parish or Town Council
  • The scheme is mainly for local organisations; individuals can apply but are encouraged to contact the Partnership Office first
  • Applicants are responsible for their own insurance, liability, health and safety and access, and must say how anything the project produces will be distributed or maintained afterwards

What it funds

  • Projects that positively address the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of communities around the Teign Estuary and adjacent open coastline, including Dawlish, Holcombe and the Ness, and further one or more of the TECP Strategic Policies
  • Any form of expenditure, within the exclusions

the grant may cover 100% of a project's cost or be used alongside other funds as part of a larger project.

What it will not fund

  • Continued or ongoing revenue costs (e.g. salaries, rental costs)
  • Activity which is the statutory function or responsibility of a public body
  • Commercial ventures undertaking works for profit (unless the profits are re-invested in agreed public works)
  • Projects whose benefits are not within or relating to the immediate area of the Teign Estuary and adjacent coastline

How to apply

  1. Optionally discuss your proposal with one of the TECP partners or the Partnership Office (coastal@teignbridge.gov.uk)
  2. Complete the TECP Small Grants Scheme application form
  3. Return it, with estimates/quotations and permissions, to the Coastal Officer at Teignbridge District Council by the end of the month before a Steering Group meeting (usually February, May, August or November)
  4. The Steering Group (usually meeting in March, June, September and December) decides; applicants are told within two weeks of the meeting
  5. If successful, claim the grant within 12 months, normally as a single payment at the end of the project against receipted expenditure

the Steering Group funds a maximum of two applications per quarter. Unsuccessful applicants can reapply to later meetings. Successful projects must credit the TECP in publicity and may be asked to present at the Partnership Forum.
