The Campden Charities Trustee
The Campden Charities Grants for Kensington Residents
Grants and one-to-one support for low-income residents of the old Parish of Kensington, mainly to help people into training, education and better-paid work. Support is a tailored package rather than a one-off grant: scholarships and course fees, laptops, childcare, Oyster cards, interview clothes, work tools and help for people not yet ready to work. You must have lived in the area for two years, rent your home and be on benefits or a low wage. Grants Officers visit every household.

- Organisations cannot apply for themselves but can refer clients
What it funds
- Students and learners: scholarships for under-24s at sixth form or college (up to £1,870, can buy a laptop) and for university students (up to £3,000)
- Accommodation grants of up to £4,000 if living independently (or, for university students, studying outside London)
- Help hiring a private tutor, and support during unpaid work experience
- Apprentices: a possible grant to top up the apprentice wage
- Adult learners: vocational course fees, travel to college, course materials and tools, a laptop, childcare during vocational courses, and a contribution to living costs if full-time study means losing means-tested benefits
- Job seekers: cash grants for interview clothing, mock interviews, CV help and contributions to course fees
- Employed: childcare costs, Oyster cards for travel to work, course fees for upskilling, and work essentials such as tools, DBS fees, licence renewals and uniforms
- Not yet work ready: gym membership, a cash incentive for new volunteers (at least two days a week), and the cost of activities and workshops
each package is tailored, and people can receive more than one kind of support.
