The Morley Agricultural Foundation

The Morley Agricultural Foundation Grants

The Morley Agricultural Foundation (TMAF), a Norfolk charitable trust, funds agricultural research and education, mainly for the benefit of farming in East Anglia and the Eastern Counties. It funds arable research, PhD projects with partners, professional development for people in farming, and initiatives that teach audiences from schoolchildren to adults about farming, such as agricultural shows' school food-and-farming days. Individuals and organisations apply by first writing to TMAF; if the idea fits, TMAF sends an application form. TMAF invests about £500,000 a year.

Who can apply

  • Individuals and organisations
  • Past grants have gone to universities and research bodies (NIAB, BBRO, Harper Adams, Lincoln University), agricultural show societies and education charities (for example school food and farming days run by the Royal Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Hertfordshire agricultural associations), and individuals' training bursaries
  • Work should be relevant to farming in East Anglia / the East of England: school events are 'preferred to be within East Anglia' with measurable, positive outcomes, and bursary holders are chosen to use their skills back in a farming business in East Anglia
  • TMAF only funds 'the most deserving cases' that meet its criteria for each category

What it funds

  • Arable research relevant to East Anglia that improves productivity while reducing negative impact on the natural environment
  • PhD projects, in collaboration with other funders and partners
  • Individuals and their continual professional development (CPD) at all levels
  • Initiatives to inform a wide audience, from school age children to adults, about agricultural practices

TMAF welcomes projects that make use of its farm, complement current or previous TMAF-supported projects, contribute long-standing data sets, or offer clear ways to share information and demonstrate results.
