Derbyshire County Council
Community Leadership Scheme
Small one-off grants recommended by your local Derbyshire county councillor for community, voluntary, youth and other local organisations running projects that benefit their division. Each of the 64 county councillors has an annual budget (£1,930 per the council's page) to share among projects in their own division, so awards are usually modest. There is no form: you approach your councillor directly.

- Rolling

- Effort
- Light
- short form, little evidence needed
Who can apply
- Community, voluntary, youth and other local organisations with projects in Derbyshire County Council's area (the county outside Derby city)
- You apply to the county councillor for the division where the project will benefit people
- No organisation-type, income or governance criteria are published
- In practice councillors can only support what their annual budget allows, and each councillor's budget is shared across their division, so funding is not guaranteed
What it funds
- One-off costs of worthwhile projects and initiatives that benefit local communities within a county councillor's electoral division
- The local county councillor decides which projects to recommend
What it will not fund
- Ongoing or recurring costs (the scheme is for one-off costs)
- Projects outside the councillor's own division
How to apply
- Find your local county councillor using the council's 'Find your local councillor' service
- Contact the councillor explaining the nature of the project, the amount sought, what other funding may be available, and how it will benefit the community
- The councillor decides whether to recommend the project for support
Each councillor's budget is annual (council financial year April-March), so it may run out later in the year.
Further information is available from Daniel Mitchell, daniel.mitchell@derbyshire.gov.uk.
