What it funds

Travel to conferences, including the FSBI annual symposium, and associated scientific exchange visits consistent with the Society's objectives; the primary purpose is to enable researchers to present their work at scientific meetings:

  • Travel
  • Travel insurance
  • Subsistence costs
  • Conference fees

travel for purposes other than conferences may also be considered. Combining conference attendance with visits to other institutions is encouraged. The grant may be matched by funds from other sources where costs are higher.

What it will not fund

  • Meetings to discuss new research proposals
  • Fieldwork
  • Research projects
  • Purchase of equipment
  • Applications received less than 3 months, or more than 12 months, before the proposed visit
  • Late applications
