Society for Reproduction and Fertility

SRF Travel Grants

Grants for members of the Society for Reproduction and Fertility to attend conferences, meetings and courses in reproductive biology and fertility, other than the Society's own Fertility conference. The award is banded by the distance from your institution to the event: up to £250 under 1,000 km, up to £500 for 1,000-3,000 km, and up to £750 over 3,000 km (the Society's grants overview says the maximum was recently raised to £800). You must have been a paying member for at least two years; student members are not eligible. Applications are reviewed three times a year.

Who can apply

  • Individual members of the Society for Reproduction and Fertility (membership is open to scientists and students worldwide)
  • You must have been a member for at least 24 months at the time of the event and have paid for at least two years of membership before applying; members who joined in 2025 may apply 12 months after their first payment provided they have paid two consecutive years, and PhD early-career members who joined in 2026 may apply 6 months after their first payment for an event at least 12 months after it
  • If the event is next year you must pay and keep that year's membership, or the grant is invalidated
  • Student members (full-time BSc and Masters) are not eligible; Associate membership (PhD students and postdocs, £60 a year) includes travel grant eligibility

What it funds

Financial support to attend conferences and meetings relevant to the fields of reproductive biology and fertility, excluding the upcoming Fertility conference:

  • Less than 1000 km travelled: up to £250
  • 1000 - 3000 km travelled: up to £500
  • Over 3000 km travelled: up to £750

the band is set by the distance from your institution to the place of the event. Payment is made after the meeting, against full receipts, a certificate of attendance and a meeting report.

What it will not fund

  • Attendance at the Joint Fertility meeting (support for that is only through the Fertility Bursary)
  • Retrospective applications (applications must be submitted in advance of the event)
  • Student members
  • More than one travel grant to the same member in any 24-month period

How to apply

  1. Check you meet the membership rules and that your current year's subscription is paid
  2. Work out your distance band using a distance calculator from your institution to the event
  3. Apply through the online travel grant application form in the SRF member portal before the next deadline (1 March, 1 July or 1 November) and before the event
  4. After the meeting, submit your claim with full receipts, a certificate of attendance and a report on the meeting and its benefit to you

allow enough time after the deadline to make travel plans; the report may be published in the newsletter or on the SRF website, and failing to send it may make you ineligible for future travel grants.

Have ready

  • Full receipts (with the final claim)
  • Certificate of attendance (with the final claim)
  • Report on the content of the meeting and its benefit to you (with the final claim)
