Red Eagle Foundation

Red Eagle Foundation Grants

A small Kent grant-maker (registered charity 1179117) giving one-off grants to individuals, registered charities and other charitable organisations for physical and mental health. Grants are generally between £100 and £5,000, larger only in exceptional circumstances. The Foundation exists to empower disadvantaged children, especially through equipment the NHS does not provide. It also grants 'wishes' to Kent children with life-limiting illness through a separate form. There is no deadline: you apply online, and trustees review requests every month or two.

Who can apply

  • Individuals, registered charities and other charitable organisations, primarily (but not exclusively) within Kent
  • The application criteria rule out organisations incorporated or based outside Kent, and the trust says 100% of its grants typically go to individuals and organisations in Kent
  • Anyone who has had a successful application in the previous two years is very likely to be turned down
  • (The separate wish programme is for Kent-based families of a child under 18 with a life-threatening illness, or a young person under 30 receiving end-of-life care.)

What it funds

Grants in support of these funding priorities:

  • Physical health
  • Mental health

the Foundation's stated aim is empowering disadvantaged children with mobility, mental health and learning difficulties, and those from a disadvantaged financial background, in particular but not exclusively by funding equipment not provided by the NHS.

What it will not fund

  • Overseas expeditions
  • Higher education tuition fees
  • Organisations incorporated or based outside of Kent
  • Non-secular, political or otherwise discriminatory projects
  • Animal charities
  • Applicants who have had a successful application in the previous two years (such applications are 'highly likely' to be rejected)

How to apply

  1. Check your request against the funding priorities and exclusions on the application criteria page
  2. Complete the online grant application form on the Foundation's 'Apply for a grant' page, describing your project and the reason for the grant; applications made by other means are not accepted
  3. Trustees review pending requests at their regular meetings; successful applicants are notified by email and must provide any further information the trustees ask for
  4. After payment, provide feedback and evidence that the grant was used for its purpose

there is no deadline and all applications are acknowledged. Trustees weigh mainly the benefit the grant will provide, favouring benefits that are wide-ranging, profound and/or long-lasting.
