Parry Family Charitable Foundation

Parry Family Charitable Foundation Grant Programme

Main and small grants for discrete projects run by small and medium-sized UK charities and not-for-profit organisations, from a small foundation that wants long-term relationships rather than one-off gifts. Priorities are helping people in need, tackling poverty, and saving lives and improving health, through three hubs: invited Partner Charities, a Homeless Hub of local homelessness charities, and a Community Hub of small local charities. The 2026/27 grant budget is £60,000 with about 12 grants forecast; no grant sizes are published. Applications start with an initial enquiry, open year-round.

Who can apply

  • UK-based exempt or registered charities and not-for-profit organisations whose operational focus is the UK, mainly small or medium-sized with focused aims
  • The Foundation looks for well-run, operationally and financially efficient charities with great leadership, clear objectives and a proven track record, spending most of their income on front-line work and depending heavily on voluntary and private-sector funding
  • Not-for-profit organisations are most likely to be supported through the Community Hub (small local charities, often volunteer-run)
  • Organisations must meet the Charity Commission's public benefit test
  • The Foundation deals only directly with organisations, not intermediaries, and wants to build long-term relationships

What it funds

  • Discrete projects or activities, including the purchase of equipment, funding programmes and new jointly agreed initiatives
  • New, imaginative and great value for money projects, including 'matched funding'
  • Proposals in the priority areas of People in Need, Tackling Poverty, and Saving Lives and Improving Health
  • Small Grants: a broader range, including small-scale projects and partial funding of a bigger initiative or programme (general funding only exceptionally)

priority is given to charities in the Partner Charities, Homeless and Community hubs. Main grants are only for discrete projects, usually as a single payment; multi-year proposals are considered only in exceptional cases.

What it will not fund

  • Charity overheads or general running costs
  • Individuals directly
  • Establishing or adding to a charity's endowment fund or reserves
  • Charities with high levels of uncommitted cash and/or investments
  • Animal charities
  • Charities concerned with the efficiency of the armed forces, police, fire and rescue or ambulance services
  • Religious charities, to further or foster religious belief
  • Charities focused on citizenship or community development
  • Human rights, conflict resolution or reconciliation, or the promotion of religious or racial harmony or equality and diversity focused charities
  • Projects that would normally have been covered by statutory bodies, including central and local government
  • Retrospective funding of completed projects
  • General appeals, mail shots or requests for donations without a specific project purpose
  • Charities with a national or international footprint (unlikely to be supported)
  • One-off grants to charities with no realistic prospect of a long-term relationship (not attractive to the Foundation)

arts, culture, heritage or science charities, amateur sport charities and environmental charities are rarely supported (specific environmental projects with traceable deliverables are welcomed).
