What it funds

A wide variety of projects for people in need, hardship or distress, including running costs if a case can be made. Past examples:

  • A course of parenting classes
  • An upgrade of an organisation's IT equipment
  • Furnishing for supported accommodation for people with learning difficulties
  • Equipment for a youth club
  • Work with youngsters in danger of being excluded from school
  • The running costs of a club for people who are socially isolated
  • Part funding for a money advisor helping people in financial difficulty

other types of application will be considered; contact the office first if unsure.

What it will not fund

  • Organisations whose clients do not mainly live in the central area of Guildford
  • Further applications from organisations that have not returned a satisfactory evaluation report for a previous grant

How to apply

  1. Check your clients live in the catchment area on the home page map, and contact the office if unsure about eligibility
  2. Complete an Organisation grant application form for each application, stating the whole sum needed for the project, the contribution requested, how the funds will be used and how the project will be monitored and evaluated
  3. Send the form with the latest accounts and any other relevant information at least one month before the next trustees' meeting
  4. Trustees decide at the meeting and email the decision as soon as possible afterwards
  5. If awarded, a senior officer or trustee signs the Conditions of Grant form, then the grant is paid by BACS
  6. Complete an evaluation report when the project ends, or within a year for general costs

applications that miss a deadline are considered at the following meeting. In 2026 the meetings were in March, June and November (deadlines 19 February, 14 May and 8 October); 2027 dates are not yet published.
