The Edina Trust

Science Grant Scheme

Non-competitive grants for primary science education, guaranteed to every eligible state-funded school and nursery in the local authority areas the Trust is currently working in. Primary and special schools receive £1,000 in the 2026/27 school year, infant and junior schools £500 each year, and nurseries not previously funded £700. Because the scheme is non-competitive, an eligible school that applies is funded rather than assessed against others.

You could get: £500 – £1,000
Deadline: Not published; no closing date given
Effort: Light; short form, little evidence needed

Who can apply

State-funded, non fee-paying primary schools, special schools and local authority maintained non-PVI nurseries — both stand-alone nursery schools and nursery classes embedded in a school — within the local authority areas the Trust is currently covering
Those areas are Dundee City, Inverclyde, North Ayrshire and North Lanarkshire in Scotland; Stoke-on-Trent, Nottingham, Leicester City, Burnley and Halton in England; Swansea in Wales; and Belfast City in Northern Ireland
Schools outside these areas are not eligible, and the areas change from year to year

What it funds

Science resources, gardening equipment, science weeks, subscriptions, visits, and improvements to school grounds for science.

How to apply

Select your local authority area on the Trust's website, download the grant form for that area, complete it and email it back
The Trust then confirms when payment will be made and the school buys the items or books the visits
