The Sir Bernard & Lady Schreier Foundation

The Sir Bernard & Lady Schreier Foundation Grants

One-off grants, usually £500 to £5,000, for UK charities supporting people facing mental health issues through direct provision of services. Priorities are young people (including children) affected by mental illness, all those affected by mental illness, and helping mental health charities with prevention, early intervention and wellbeing. Trustees are particularly keen on small and medium-sized local and community-based charities, and usually fund up to 50% of a project's cost. Trustees meet quarterly in January, April, July and October.

Who can apply

  • UK-based charities, normally mental health charities, providing direct services to people facing mental health issues
  • The trustees welcome proposals from a wide range of charitable organisations but are particularly keen to support small or medium-sized local and community-based organisations
  • Applicants that received a grant in the immediately preceding financial year, or that failed due diligence before without addressing the issues, will not usually be funded

What it funds

  • Empowering young people (including children) affected by mental illness
  • Supporting all those affected by mental illness
  • Helping other mental health charities prevent mental illness, improve early intervention and promote wellbeing

grants are usually one-off and usually fund up to 50% of the cost of a proposal, but in certain circumstances up to 100%.

  • Projects with a political element
  • Sponsorship and general fundraising appeals or circulars
