Godolphin Edwards Fund for Individuals

Grants of up to £500 for individuals in need living in the Shropshire parishes of Acton Burnell, Frodesley, Pitchford, and Langley & Ruckley. It continues the old Godolphin Edwards Relief in Need Charity, now an endowment fund run by the Community Foundation. You apply under one of four strands: educational, financial, social or medical need.

Who can apply

  • Individuals in need, hardship or distress who live in the parishes of Acton Burnell, Frodesley, Pitchford, or Langley & Ruckley (Shropshire)
  • The form asks about your circumstances, household and income and expenditure, so applicants should expect their financial need to be assessed

What it funds

Grants under one of four strands:

  • Educational need: you are studying at college or university in the area and associated costs threaten your ability to continue studying
  • Financial need: not enough money coming in to cover rising bills, or unexpected or unbudgeted costs
  • Social need: social aspects of life needed for wellbeing, for example money to attend a social club or group if you do not have a car
  • Medical or health needs: for example needing to go to the hospital or doctor's more, or to visit someone in hospital

How to apply

  1. Read the criteria on the fund page
  2. Complete the online application via the 'Apply Now' link: details of you and your household, your income and expenditure, what you need help with and why, what will change, how the request meets the fund's aims, and how you will spend the award
  3. Submit by the next closing date, 1 March 2027
  4. Applications are assessed 1-10 March 2027 and go to a funder-advised panel on 17 March 2027

applications can be made at any time, but the fund says it runs two rounds a year (opening in April and October). Notifications from 17 March 2027; payment from 28 March 2027. On 20 Oct 2026 the page's 'Apply Now' button pointed to a WordPress preview link; if it does not work, phone 01743 295900.
