Richmond Foundation

Catalyst Grants

Grants to individuals and families on low incomes living in the Richmond Foundation's area of benefit (TW9, TW10, SW13 and SW14), for urgent living expenses and for activities and resources that unlock opportunities, provide critical support and improve wellbeing. Individuals cannot apply to the Foundation directly: applications go through one of its local Catalyst Partners (such as Citizens Advice Richmond, Age UK Richmond, Richmond AID and RUILS), who assess eligibility and decide the value and use of each grant.

Who can apply

  • Individuals and families on low incomes who live in TW9, TW10, SW13 or SW14 (Richmond, Kew, Ham, Barnes, Mortlake and East Sheen, in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames), or who are Richmond care leavers, who demonstrate a need for support and cannot afford the cost themselves
  • Applications must come through a Catalyst Partner: Achieving for Children (families supported by social care, via their social worker or personal adviser), Age UK Richmond (older people), Citizens Advice Richmond (anyone living or working in the borough), Look Ahead (social care and housing support), Richmond AID (long-term health conditions, disabilities, carers), Richmond Housing Partnership (RHP tenants), Riverbank Trust (vulnerable single mothers), RUILS (disabled people, long-term health or mental health conditions, parents of children with SEND), and Vineyard Community Centre and Richmond Foodbank (complex crises)

What it funds

  • Activities and resources that unlock opportunities, provide critical support and enhance wellbeing for individuals and families on low incomes, including urgent living expenses

Catalyst Partners decide the value and use of each grant, tailored to what will have the biggest impact on the person's circumstances, with a focus on sustainable, long-term change.

What it will not fund

  • People living outside TW9, TW10, SW13 and SW14 (except London Borough of Richmond care leavers)
  • Costs incurred before the application (retrospective funding)
  • Direct applications to the Foundation

How to apply

  1. Contact the Catalyst Partner that fits your situation (contact details for each are on the Catalyst Grants page)
  2. The partner assesses your eligibility and decides whether to award a grant and how much

the Foundation does not accept applications from individuals directly. Separate Education Catalyst grants (adults' training and qualifications) are applied for through the Foundation's own quarterly rounds.
