What it funds
Charitable, educational, community, environmental, energy efficiency or general community amenity projects in the local area that:
- Enhance quality of life for local residents
- Contribute to vibrant, healthy, successful and sustainable communities
- Promote community spirit and activity
- Benefit tourism or the scenic or historic value of the area
- Priority goes:
- To groups not previously (or only lightly) funded by the scheme
- To projects where the grant covers most of the costs
- To projects that improve energy efficiency or management or are innovative, sustainable or renewable, address needs identified by local people, meet unmet needs, support community involvement and show commitment to equal opportunities
Grants are up to £3,000 per year or up to £9,000 over three years (e.g. room hire, or materials and refreshments each year); microgrants are up to £500 for up to 90% of project costs.
The panel prefers at least a 10% contribution (cash or volunteer time at the Living Wage Foundation rate) but it is not required.
