What it funds
Ongoing project costs, pilot projects, small capital expenditure, or development needs of your organisation that help it better meet beneficiaries' needs, and/or overheads to enable this, used over up to 24 months. Examples:
- Volunteer recruitment and training
- A pilot activity you may later generate income from
- Equipment to extend activities and increase participation
- Activity costs for young people in an area of disadvantage
- Staff or freelance support or training to build capacity
- Building improvements to make venues more accessible
- Publicity materials
- Organisational running costs (overheads)
Organisational development can include changes to strategy, structure or processes.
Events must show community reach and benefit beyond the day.
Grants can fund 100% of costs or be part of a funding package, but priority is unlikely where the grant would be under 20% of the total project cost.
Around 50-75% of awards are expected to address quality of life (e.g. long-term wellbeing, health, environmental engagement, youth volunteering, extracurricular education) and 25-50% urgent community social needs (e.g. clothes, food, bedding, urgent mental health support).
