North Northamptonshire Council

Burton Wold Community Fund

A community benefit fund provided by Your Energy, the company that runs the Burton Wold wind farm, and administered by North Northamptonshire Council. It pays for energy efficiency work and energy efficiency education in the electoral ward of Burton Latimer, and will run for the life of the wind farm. Unusually, it is open both to individual residents, who can apply to make their own homes more energy efficient, and to community groups improving their buildings or delivering energy advice and education. Applications are assessed case by case and are subject to available funding.

Who can apply

  • Residents and community groups within the electoral ward of Burton Latimer, which sits within North Northamptonshire
  • The ward boundary - not the town, the parish or the wider council area - is the stated limit, so an applicant elsewhere in North Northamptonshire is not eligible
  • Individual residents apply in their own right for energy efficiency improvements to their homes, and community groups apply for their buildings or for advice and education work
  • The council states no income limit, governance requirement or track record condition, and sets no minimum or maximum award: projects are assessed on a case-by-case basis and are subject to available funding

What it funds

  • Work that improves the energy efficiency of homes and buildings, or that delivers energy efficiency advice and education to the local community
  • Projects the fund has previously paid for include:
  • Improving the energy efficiency of sheltered housing schemes in Burton Latimer
  • Installing an energy efficient boiler at the Civic Centre and the Scouts Centre
  • Solar panels
  • An energy efficient boiler

The council says other projects will be considered, subject to available funding.
