Chalk Cliff Trust

Chalk Cliff Trust Grants

Unusually flexible grants, mostly in the region of £3,000 to £5,000, for charitable and benevolent organisations, with funds predominantly distributed in East Sussex. The money need not be tied to a project: the Trust is explicit that it is happy for a grant to be used as seed capital, for core administration costs, or to help an organisation through a difficult time. There is no deadline, the Trust says it responds quickly, and grants are usually paid within a few days of approval.

Who can apply

  • Donations are normally made to registered charities, but organisations pending registration and pressure groups will also be considered
  • Our funds are predominantly distributed in East Sussex
  • Donations are usually made once per organisation, though repeat donations may be considered in certain circumstances, and the Trust requires a gap of at least one year between all donations
  • Payments are made only into a club or charity bank account, never to an individual

What it funds

  • Anything charitable or benevolent

The Trust states grants need not be specifically tied to funding projects and is happy for the money to be used as seed capital, to help with core administration costs, or to help an organisation through a difficult time.

Larger donations will be considered, and modest one-off payments may be appropriate for smaller concerns with low running costs or those needing funding for a specific event.

What it will not fund

  • Applications by post - online only
  • Applications sent from a personal email address
  • Payments to anything other than a club or charity bank account
  • A repeat donation within one year of a previous one - the Trust requires a gap of at least one year between all donations

How to apply

  1. Download the application form from the How to Apply page, in Word or PDF
  2. Complete it, explaining how the funds will be used
  3. Email the form and supporting documents to application@chalkclifftrust.org from an organisational, not personal, email address
  4. The Trust will contact you after receiving your application

do not request access to the form documents online - they are master copies; download a copy instead

payment is normally made by bank transfer within a few days of approval, though there may be delays when the Trust is busy

Have ready

  • A completed application form explaining how the funds will be used
  • A copy of the latest accounts, minutes of recent meetings, or a mission statement - to assure the Trust the request is genuine
