Steve Morgan Foundation

Regional Grants

Large three-year grants of £250,000-£500,000 for ambitious not-for-profit organisations with an annual turnover of £300,000-£5 million tackling the root causes of social disadvantage affecting children, young people and their families in Merseyside, North Wales, North Shropshire and Cheshire west of the M6. Work must fit one of three themes: education, access to provision (health, housing, homelessness, youth opportunities and facilities) or employment. The Foundation awards 8 to 10 regional grants a year; applications start with an online eligibility checker leading to an Expression of Interest, and the process is open all year round.

What it funds

Long-term, systemic work by not-for-profit organisations tackling the root causes of social disadvantage affecting children, young people and their families, under three themes:

  • Education (improving education outcomes for all young people)
  • Access to provision (expanding access for those most in need to support with health, housing, homelessness, youth opportunities and facilities)
  • Employment (increasing careers support and employment opportunities for young people and adults)

Grants of £250,000-£500,000 over three years can cover salaries, ongoing project costs and core costs.

Proposals to match fund with other funders are welcomed.

What it will not fund

  • Organisations with an annual turnover below £300,000 (smaller groups are supported only through the Foundation's place-based work, not this open programme)
  • Organisations with an annual turnover above £5 million
  • Requests outside the £250,000-£500,000 over three years range
  • Work delivered outside Merseyside, North Wales, North Shropshire and Cheshire west of the M6
