Test Valley Borough Council
Councillors Community Grant Scheme
Test Valley Borough Council's Councillors Community Grant Scheme gives not-for-profit community groups, charities, clubs, parish and town councils and schools up to £1,000 (and no more than two-thirds of the cost) for community-led projects in a Test Valley ward. Applications need written endorsement from a ward Borough Councillor. Exceptional projects benefiting several wards can be considered for a one-off multi-ward grant of up to £2,000. Applications are taken all year, at least a month before the money is needed.

- Applicants must be non-political, have an open membership policy and a membership or client base of at least 10, and the work must benefit the Test Valley ward where the project is based and support the Council's 'Contribute' corporate priority
- Groups unsure of eligibility should contact their ward's Community Engagement Officer
What it funds
Community projects that address a need within a Test Valley ward, such as:
- Addressing climate change or supporting the environment and sustainability
- Increasing inclusivity and access for all
- Creating new or improving existing community assets
- New community resources
- Community-led events
- Public art
The grant covers up to two-thirds of the project cost, to a maximum of £1,000; a multi-ward grant of up to £2,000 may be considered for exceptional projects or events of significant benefit across several wards and in line with the Council's corporate priorities.
What it will not fund
- More than two-thirds of the cost of the project or activity
- More than one grant from the scheme for the same project in any financial year
- Items or projects already funded from any other Council one-off grant scheme
- Political organisations or groups without an open membership policy
- A further multi-ward grant for a project or event that has already received one
How to apply
- Read the Eligibility Criteria and Guidance for Applicants
- Discuss your proposal with your ward Borough Councillor(s) and the Community Engagement Officer for your ward (and speak to the Officer before applying for a multi-ward grant)
- Get written endorsement from at least one ward Councillor
- Complete the application on the Council's online grant system (Flexigrant), saving progress on each page, upload the supporting documents and submit at least one month before the funds are needed
If funding is needed with less than a month's notice, speak to your ward's Community Engagement Officer first.
Multi-ward applications are decided by majority of the Test Valley Borough Councillors for the wards covered.
Have ready
