Who can apply

  • Community and voluntary groups that support musical activity, and individuals (young people under 30)
  • The fund page says it is 'open to individuals and community and voluntary groups', and it limits individuals to residents of the Mansfield and Hucknall areas
  • It does not say whether groups face the same limit, but the fund's focus is Mansfield and Hucknall
  • Forever Notts' general grant FAQs say that group applicants must be not-for-profit community groups or social enterprises in Nottingham or Nottinghamshire
  • They do not need registered charity status, but their activities must be charitable
  • They need a governing document with a dissolution clause, at least three unrelated committee members or trustees, and a bank account in the group's name with two signatories
  • They also need current annual accounts, plus safeguarding (if working with children or vulnerable adults), equal opportunities and insurance policies

What it funds

One-off grants for musical activity by or for young people under 30:

  • New equipment
  • Start-up costs
  • New activity (the fund gives therapy and hospital radio costs as examples)

What it will not fund

  • Applicants outside the Mansfield and Hucknall areas (stated for individuals)
  • Activity that can be funded through other funds (these get lower priority)
  • Retrospective grants (Forever Notts general exclusion)
  • Groups with significant financial reserves (Forever Notts general exclusion)
  • Statutory bodies such as schools, hospitals and councils (Forever Notts general exclusion)
  • Contributions to endowments or loan repayments (Forever Notts general exclusion)
