The Gordon Fraser Charitable Trust
Gordon Fraser Charitable Trust grants
The Gordon Fraser Charitable Trust (registered charity 260869), set up in 1966 by the greetings card publisher Gordon Fraser, gives small grants to registered charities, with complete trustee discretion over the type of charitable work. Awards are in the region of £500-£2,500, and about £160,000 goes to around 100 charities a year. Applications from and for Scotland get favourable consideration, but charities elsewhere can apply. Deadlines are the end of March, June, September and December, with decisions the following month.

Who can apply
- Charities registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales or with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR)
- No applications from individuals
- There is a long-standing preference for applications from and for Scotland, but not to the exclusion of applications from elsewhere
- No income limit or cause restriction is published
What it funds
- Registered charities' work across a broad spectrum of need; the trustees have complete discretion as to the type of charitable work supported and focus resources where they feel even a small award will make a difference
- Applications can be:
- For a specific project (state the amount required, an outline budget and other possible funding sources; a 'shopping list' of items helps)
- For the charity's work generally
The Trust's separate Paper Conservation Fund supports accredited museums in Scotland conserving works on paper, with its own application route.
What it will not fund
- Individuals
- Organisations not registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales or the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator
