  • Eligible organisation structures (with a signed governing document including an asset lock or equivalent, and charitable purposes): registered charities and CIOs, companies limited by guarantee (including charitable companies and CICs limited by guarantee), trusts, unincorporated associations, Community Benefit Societies and constituted residents' associations

  • They must not have two years of late filings or two years of net current liabilities in the last two completed financial years, and paid trustees are only allowed with regulator approval or provision in the governing document
  • Only constituted organisations (not individuals) can run projects for children and young people under 18 or vulnerable people

What it funds

Projects or activities that demonstrate benefits for the wider Thamesmead community and meet one or more of these themes:

  • Increases levels of arts and cultural activity
  • Supports educational outcomes for a group of people
  • Brings the community together
  • Seeks to improve local health and wellbeing
  • Encourages community use of local outdoor spaces
  • Supports activities to strengthen children and family relationships
  • Help people develop new skills
  • Provides local services or activities for older people
  • Use nature of gardening to bring people together
  • Provide opportunities for people to connect with and enjoy the natural environment
  • Increase biodiversity in Thamesmead

Requests can be for regular clubs/activities or one-off events which show value for money, and can cover the total project cost, sessional workers (ideally at the London Living Wage) and public liability insurance. £3,000 of the pot is ringfenced for nature-based projects.

Capital costs - requests which are solely for equipment or items - are not a priority for the fund.

What it will not fund

  • Individuals running projects for children and young people or vulnerable adults
  • Local Authorities
  • Any party-political activity
  • Purely commercial ventures (for profit)
  • CICs Limited by Shares
  • Spending that has already taken place (retrospective funding)
  • Individual sponsorship, or redistribution of a grant to individuals or other organisations
  • Activities promoting religious beliefs
  • Activities where people are excluded on the basis of religion, sexual orientation, gender (unless the issue is gender-specific) or ethnicity
  • Applicants already holding a grant from any Peabody grant programme in the last 12 months

How to apply

  1. Read the fund guidelines and the LCF eligibility criteria
  2. Speak to the Peabody team about your proposed project - for arts and culture projects contact Lisa.Drew@peabody.org.uk, for other projects georgia.mann@peabody.org.uk; applications are only considered if you have done this
  3. Apply online through the 'Apply now' link for organisations or the separate link for individuals (Plinth), by 12 noon on Monday 19 October 2026
  4. LCF checks eligibility, Peabody's Thamesmead team shortlist the applications that best fit the criteria, and the Thamesmead Community Fund Panel decides in November
  5. Successful applicants receive an offer letter from LCF; project activity must not start before late December 2026

Paper applications are available only if absolutely necessary. Grants must be spent within 12 months of the offer, with a monitoring form due four weeks after that; a Peabody Community Connector visits partway through.

The Nest and Moorings Sociable Club can be hired at a subsidised £10 an hour (9am-5pm weekdays) for funded activity.
