St Giles and St George
Education Grants
Grants from the St Giles and St George Education charity for not-for-profit organisations, schools and churches working with children and young people (0-25) who live or are educated in Covent Garden, Bloomsbury and south Westminster. Small Grants (up to £3,600) can be applied for at any time; Project Grants (up to £12,000) and Community Investment Grants (up to £18,500 a year for three years, for existing grantees only) go to quarterly trustee meetings. The charity favours long-term relationships, offers unrestricted funding where possible and focuses on children from marginalised communities.

Who can apply
- Registered charities, parish churches, state-maintained schools and academies, and social enterprises/CICs (which must meet additional criteria; contact the charity first)
- The work must be for children and young people from birth to 25 who live or are educated in the area of benefit: the parishes covering most of Bloomsbury and the Holborn & Covent Garden wards of Camden, and the southern half of Westminster (West End, St James's, Vincent Square, Pimlico North and South, Knightsbridge & Belgravia, and half of Hyde Park and Lancaster Gate wards)
- Your organisation need not be based there, but beneficiaries must be, and funding is proportionate to the local benefit
- The charity values organisations located in or strongly linked to the area, with a track record with marginalised communities, delivering established services rather than new initiatives, and expects membership of relevant bodies (e.g. London Youth for youth clubs, Active Westminster Mark for sports)
- Community Investment Grants are only for organisations funded by the charity in the last three years with a strong local track record, and not usually for schools
- Non-charities can only receive restricted project funding
What it funds
Universal and targeted initiatives for children and young people under five broad themes:
- Children & Families: focus on younger children and their parents
- Education & Learning: supporting attainment, enhancing the curriculum and learning new skills
- Emotional Well-being: looking after children's emotional and mental health
- Youth Activities: clubs and activities that older children attend on their own
- Christian Education: reflecting the charity's historic roots
Small Grants (max £3,600, revenue or capital) suit one-off projects such as environmental education, school enrichment, children's activities at community events and Sunday School or Messy Church. Project Grants (max £12,000) fund regular activity for a few weeks up to a year. Community Investment Grants (max £18,500 a year for up to three years) fund ongoing local provision such as after-school clubs, youth provision and family support.

- Grant-making organisations or endowment funds
- General charitable appeals or circulars
- Political projects
- Work that has already taken place
- Statutory obligations
- Unlikely: larger building projects, including playground improvements
- Unlikely: registered social landlords
- Unlikely: independent schools
- Unlikely: school trips to another country
- Unlikely: organisations with large unrestricted reserves or in financial deficit
