Oxfordshire Community Foundation (Amazon)

Amazon Powerhouse Community Fund

A new fund from Amazon, run by Oxfordshire Community Foundation, giving grants of up to £10,000 to grassroots charitable organisations within a 7-mile radius of Didcot, covering Abingdon and Wallingford. It funds projects in four themes: local social impact, STEM education, local skills development and environmental sustainability. Decisions are made from a single expression of interest, shared with the Didcot Powerhouse Fund so groups eligible for both apply once; EOIs open on 1 December 2026 and close at midday on 11 January 2027.

Who can apply

  • Charitable organisations with annual income between £1,000 and £1 million (for joint bids, the combined income), serving people within a 7-mile radius of the centre of Didcot, including Abingdon and Wallingford; at least 90% of beneficiaries must live inside that radius
  • Eligible structures: registered charity, CIO, unincorporated club or association, community benefit society, CIC, or company limited by guarantee
  • Individuals, for-profit companies, companies limited by shares, public bodies and statutory organisations cannot apply
  • Applicants need at least three unrelated trustees, directors or committee members; a bank account in the organisation's name with at least two unrelated signatories, open for at least three months when the EOI is submitted; financial information (audited accounts, recent management accounts or an income and expenditure document); and at least one year in operation (if constituted for less, show longer activity)
  • OCF's general Grants Policy also applies

What it funds

Projects delivered by charitable organisations within the target themes:

  • Creating local social impact
  • Supporting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education
  • Local skills development
  • Environmental sustainability

Funding is for projects: project operating costs, including a proportionate share of overheads allocated to the project, are eligible. At least 90% of beneficiaries must live within the 7-mile radius of the centre of Didcot.

What it will not fund

  • Grants exclusively for general overheads of the organisation
  • Applications from individuals, for profit companies, public bodies or statutory organisations
  • Companies limited by shares
  • Projects where fewer than 90% of beneficiaries live within the 7-mile radius of Didcot

How to apply

  1. Read the fund page, the joint application page and OCF's Grants Policy; optionally join the webinar at 12.30pm on Wednesday 9 December 2026 (register in advance)
  2. From 1 December 2026, complete the single online Expression of Interest, indicating whether you want to be considered for the Amazon Powerhouse Community Fund, the Didcot Powerhouse Fund, or both
  3. Submit the EOI by midday on Monday 11 January 2027
  4. The Amazon Powerhouse Grants Panel decides from the EOI alone (no detailed application) and notifies you by 9 March 2027
  5. If successful, provide three outcome measures and indicators for the grant agreement and the requested documents within one week; grants are paid by 31 March 2027

If you select both funds, each assesses the same EOI separately; the Didcot Powerhouse Fund has its own invitation-only second stage.

Have ready

  • A redacted copy of a bank statement confirming bank account details in your organisation's name
  • A copy of your safeguarding policy
  • If not registered with the Charity Commission: latest audited or management accounts, or a summary of current income and expenditure, and confirmation that you have three unrelated trustees

These are requested only if your EOI is successful, and must be provided within one week.
