Who can apply

  • Voluntary community organisations, voluntary faith organisations, registered charities and CICs limited by guarantee, based in Lancashire, with an annual income under £350,000
  • Applicants need a demonstrable track record of delivering mental health support, delivered by trained professionals, volunteers or community workers
  • The Foundation's general rules also apply: at least three unrelated trustees, directors or committee members; CICs and charitable companies must have no Person with Significant Control, or all directors must have equal powers; national organisations need a permanent local presence in Lancashire with a local management team and separate income and expenditure for Lancashire activity

What it funds

Projects helping vulnerable people with their mental health that meet at least one of these priorities:

  • BAME communities (provision from organisations that understand cultural backgrounds and can offer multilingual support if needed)
  • LGBTQ+ communities (e.g. mental health needs caused by hate crime or stigmatisation)
  • People with physical or learning difficulties
  • Older people experiencing social isolation
  • Young people up to age 25 whose poor mental health is affecting their social and educational engagement

The fund prioritises mental health support for people with diagnosed mental health conditions, and projects that respond directly to acute need, delivered by organisations based in their local community.

What it will not fund

  • Individuals
  • Organisations with fewer than 3 unrelated trustees, directors or management committee members
  • Projects and activities classed as a statutory responsibility
  • Private businesses or CICs limited by shares
  • Retrospective funding
  • National organisations that cannot demonstrate local governance and control of local finances
  • Politically connected or exclusively religious activities

How to apply

  1. Check the fund criteria on the fund page and the Foundation's How to Apply page
  2. Complete the online application form via the 'Apply Now' button on the fund page by 16 October 2026
  3. Attach the supporting documents to the online form, or email them to applications@cflm.org.uk

If supporting documents are still missing seven days after submission, the application is withdrawn without further notice.

Staff check eligibility and may ask for more information; a decision-making panel then makes recommendations based on the fund's criteria and the budget available.

Have ready

  • Governing document
  • Latest annual accounts or income/expenditure document clearly showing income, expenditure and reserves
  • Recent bank statement for the group (groups without a bank account must nominate another organisation, such as a CVS or local charity, to hold the funds)
  • List of trustees, directors or management committee members (at least three unrelated)
  • Current safeguarding policy

Applicants must also hold relevant policies for the activity, such as DBS checks or a health and safety policy.
