Many funders run the same grant every year, so check the funder’s site for a new round. The details below are what the funder published when it was open.

South Cheshire Funders

South Cheshire Funders Forum

A single expression-of-interest route to several funders at once for small charities in Crewe and South Cheshire. The forum is Cheshire Community Foundation, which hosts it, with The Julia Rausing Trust, Cheshire East Council and The National Lottery Community Fund. One short form goes to all of them; they meet monthly and reply within a week, either progressing you to a full application with the right funder or giving feedback. It exists so a small charity does not have to write six different applications.

Who can apply

  • Small charities based within the South Cheshire area - Crewe and the surrounding areas of Cheshire East
  • The forum will generally only consider funding charities based in that area, unless you can demonstrate a clear gap in provision, an in-depth knowledge of the local community and that you are the best placed organisation to address the need
  • The member funders have differing borders to their own areas, so a project is matched to the right funder on both grant-making principles and geography; if you want to check whether your location is eligible before completing the form, email the forum first
  • There is no set scale of grants - the funders have different capacities and the forum says it is open to hearing what scale of project is needed

What it funds

  • Relevant and impactful work and projects in Crewe and the surrounding areas of Cheshire East
  • Core costs such as rent can be applied for - the forum asks that you make this clear in the expression of interest
  • Each funder keeps its own funding principles and priorities, so what is ultimately funded depends on which funder your project is matched with

What it will not fund

Charities based outside the South Cheshire area, unless you can demonstrate a clear gap in provision, in-depth knowledge of the local community, and that you are the best placed organisation to address the need

How to apply

  1. Read about the different priorities of the funders in the forum on the About page, to increase your likelihood of success
  2. If you are unsure whether your location is eligible, email scff@cheshirecommunityfoundation.org.uk to check before applying
  3. Submit an expression of interest form briefly outlining your project, by the monthly cut-off
  4. The funders meet to consider expressions of interest about a week later
  5. You are contacted roughly a week after that: either your project is progressed to a full application with a named funder, or you get feedback to support future applications

the full application process is then run by the individual funder, to its own governance requirements

remaining 2026 cut-offs for expressions of interest are 7 October, 11 November and 9 December
