What it funds
Small grants fund running costs (rent, utilities, insurance, staff costs etc.), project costs and/or capital costs for charities supporting those in need of a safe and secure home. Applications must meet one or more funding priorities:
- Financial stress
- Security and refuge
- Quality and suitability of housing
Health and wellbeing support for people experiencing homelessness can be included if it is part of wraparound support and also meets another priority.
The Foundation welcomes Housing First and/or relationship-based approaches and would like to see strength-based practice, trauma-informed care and psychologically informed environments.
The average small grant period is six months to a year.
What it will not fund
- Charities or projects that work or are based outside the UK
- Community Interest Companies (CICs)
- Individuals (including sponsorship)
- Animal welfare projects
- Local Scouts, Brownies or Girlguiding groups
- Schools that operate as charities
- Medical research
- Retrospective costs (reimbursement for costs already incurred)
- Political activities or projects
- Religious charities whose primary purpose is the advancement of religion
