Many funders run the same grant every year, so check the funder’s site for a new round. The details below are what the funder published when it was open.

Who can apply

  • Voluntary and community organisations operating in and benefiting Breckland district and its residents; parish or town councils in Breckland; Breckland schools providing community activity outside the school day; not-for-profit social enterprises and CICs (which must also meet NCF's social enterprise guidance); and church/PCC groups for secular projects
  • The applying organisation must be the one receiving the funding
  • Norfolk Community Foundation's general criteria apply: a governing document with charitable aims and a dissolution clause (faith groups and parish/town councils exempt); at least 3 unconnected trustees; a group bank account with two unconnected signatories (exceptions possible under £10,000); annual accounts if operating 12+ months; and safeguarding and equal opportunities policies
  • Organisations that do not engage with the Breckland Collaboration Meeting or Breckland Community Network, or that Breckland Council already funds through other streams, may be a lower priority

What it funds

Community projects that clearly align with:

  • Breckland Council's Inspiring Communities priorities (addressing vulnerability and improving life chances for the most disadvantaged, focusing on domestic abuse, mental health, social isolation and loneliness, and early intervention to prevent escalation into crisis)
  • The Breckland Health and Wellbeing priorities (preventing cardiovascular disease, improving mental health, tackling alcohol dependency and related concerns, and a lifecycle StartWell/LiveWell/AgeWell approach)

The fund can establish new or strengthen existing community care and support provision; partnership working and sharing skills and resources are encouraged.

Grants can cover the whole or part of a project cost up to £5,000, for one year.

What it will not fund

  • Organisations that are not appropriately constituted
  • Activities that have happened or will start before the grant offer is confirmed
  • Applications received less than 3 months before a project is due to start
  • Applications from groups who have not informed their Breckland ward member
  • Applications that do not clearly align with one of the Breckland Council priorities
  • Costs incurred before submitting the application, or committed before the grant offer is confirmed
  • Contingency costs
  • Reclaimable VAT
  • Fundraising activities (e.g. raffle prizes for a fete)
  • Loans or interest repayments
  • Projects or activities the state has a legal obligation to provide
  • Projects requiring planning permission that do not yet have it
  • Community building or play equipment improvements or sports activities, unless the costs clearly align to the Breckland priorities
  • Capital costs without a direct and measurable impact on the fund priorities
  • Benches, notice boards, signs and similar items
  • Creating, maintaining or improving footpaths or trods
  • Organisations with an earlier Inspiring Communities grant whose reporting is incomplete
