Many funders run the same grant every year, so check the funder’s site for a new round. The details below are what the funder published when it was open.

Quartet Community Foundation

Police and Crime Commissioner's Community Fund

Grants of £1,000 to £10,000 from the Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner, run with Quartet and Somerset Community Foundations. They are for voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise groups running projects that help prevent crime, serious violence or antisocial behaviour. Projects must improve safety in a particular neighbourhood or support people at higher risk of becoming victims or perpetrators of crime. This Quartet page covers Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire; the round closes at 1pm on 16 October 2026. Each organisation can receive only one grant during the fund's two years (2026-2028).

Who can apply

  • Groups based in Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset or South Gloucestershire (Somerset groups apply through Somerset Community Foundation)
  • Eligible groups are constituted voluntary or community organisations, constituted groups or clubs, registered charities including CIOs, and not-for-profit companies, including CICs that are not limited by shares and where most directors are unpaid
  • There is no size limit, but organisations holding significant reserves must explain why the reserves cannot cover the activity
  • Applicants need a governing document, a bank account in the group's name with at least 2 unrelated people who can authorise payments, and appropriate safeguarding arrangements if working with children or vulnerable adults
  • Quartet's general criteria also require a committee or board of at least three unpaid people, mostly unrelated
  • The required baseline standards are a safeguarding policy, DBS checks for delivery staff and volunteers, GDPR compliance, equality, health and safety and complaints policies, £5m public liability and £10m employer's liability insurance
  • Grants may be awarded if you agree to develop any standards not yet met
  • Regional or national organisations are considered only where no local group does the same work and the project is specifically targeted within the Avon and Somerset policing area
  • Previous Quartet grantees are expected to have reported well

What it funds

Projects that help prevent crime, serious violence or antisocial behaviour, either by making a real difference to safety in a particular neighbourhood or by supporting a group of people at higher risk of becoming involved in crime as victims or perpetrators. Projects should tackle themes from the Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Plan 2024-2029:

  • Strengthening community relationships and tackling antisocial behaviour
  • Reducing violent crime, including violence against women and girls and serious youth violence
  • Preventing crime and building safer communities
  • Supporting victims of crime to get the help they need

Eligible costs are staff or volunteer time to deliver the project, a contribution to management costs, travel, small items of equipment, training and development, and a contribution to core running costs where directly relevant to the project.

Groups working in areas with higher rates of crime and antisocial behaviour, or with people at genuine risk, are looked on more favourably.

What it will not fund

  • Individuals
  • Statutory bodies of any kind, including local authorities, NHS organisations, maintained schools, academy trusts, and parish and town councils
  • Target-hardening measures, including installing or improving locks, entry systems, CCTV, speed cameras or traffic management
  • Infrastructure, fencing, gates or other physical security works
  • Environmental improvements or works to public spaces, unless directly and demonstrably linked to reducing specific, identified crime or antisocial behaviour
  • Work already carried out or costs already incurred before a grant is awarded
  • Projects being considered for funding through other OPCC or Ministry of Justice funding programmes
  • Organisations that have already received a grant through this programme (one grant per organisation during 2026-2028)
  • Contributions to national campaigns

How to apply

  2. Optionally contact Luke Boulton at Quartet (0117 989 7700, applications@quartetcf.org.uk) to discuss your project
  3. Complete the online application form linked from the fund page (for projects in BANES, Bristol, North Somerset or South Gloucestershire)
  4. Upload your supporting documents and submit by 1pm on 16 October 2026
  5. A Quartet assessor reviews the application and may contact you with questions, then recommends it to a panel of the OPCC, Avon and Somerset Constabulary and an independent VCFSE representative
  6. The Police and Crime Commissioner makes the final decision; applicants are notified in early December 2026
  7. If funded, spend the grant on the agreed project and report fully within 12 months of the award date

Projects in Somerset apply through Somerset Community Foundation instead.
