Many funders run the same grant every year, so check the funder’s site for a new round. The details below are what the funder published when it was open.
Foundation Scotland

Who can apply
- Groups and organisations with projects located within or directly benefiting the Ballantrae Community Council area (South Ayrshire); organisations delivering wider-area services can apply if they show benefit to Ballantrae residents and can report the number of local beneficiaries (funding is normally proportionate)
- Applicants must meet Foundation Scotland's common eligibility criteria: charitable purposes set out in a governing document with a charitable asset lock (dissolution clause) and restraints on private benefit; at least three unrelated people on the committee/board (the majority unrelated); only a minority of board members may be paid, following OSCR guidance; latest approved accounts (not needed if under 18 months old; abbreviated/micro-entity accounts not accepted, approved management accounts can be sent instead); the organisation's own bank account in the same name as the governing document, with two unrelated signatories/independent authorisation of payments; and a safeguarding policy meeting set minimum content if working with children or vulnerable adults
- Registered charity status is not required
- Groups not meeting the criteria but whose project could benefit Ballantrae should contact Foundation Scotland to discuss
- Groups can submit more than one application in a round
What it funds
Projects located within or directly benefiting the Ballantrae community (defined by the community council boundary). A wide range of costs and activities: equipment, running costs for local groups, staff or sessional worker costs, consultations and feasibility studies, maintenance or refurbishment of community facilities, core costs; activities must be consistent with recognised charitable purposes. Priority for the Community Action Plan 2024-2029 themes:
- Working and Learning (local and visitor economy, upskilling)
- Good Local Infrastructure (protecting and enhancing local facilities and spaces)
- Affordable Housing for All Ages
- Getting About Easily (road safety, walks, cycle paths, transport)
- Care and Wellbeing (health and care for older people)
- Things to Do (events and leisure)
Other projects benefiting Ballantrae and the surrounding area are also considered.
