The LGBT+ Fund, powered by Consortium, with London Marathon Foundation
LGBT+ Fund: Get Active Fund
A new two-year fund for UK-based LGBT+ led non-profit groups whose work regularly focuses on sport or physical activity, from football and hiking to dance, vogue and gardening. Groups can ask for £5,000 to £25,000 a year for one or two years (up to £50,000 over two years), for activity costs, subsidised places and core costs. It prioritises grassroots groups helping inactive LGBT+ people facing extra barriers to take part, and groups in under-funded regions. Applications can be written, by video or supported by phone; about 1 in 5 are expected to succeed. Closes 12 noon on 4 November 2026.

Who can apply
- Applicants must meet all three requirements: (1) a UK-based LGBT+ led non-profit group or organisation, registered or based in the UK and led by and for LGBT+ people; (2) work that regularly focuses on sport or physical activity, meaning either an LGBT+ sports or physical activity organisation that runs existing projects or has run them within the past 3 years, or a non-sporting LGBT+ organisation that runs existing sport or physical activity projects ('physical activity' means anything that intentionally increases movement and wellbeing, e.g. hiking, skateboarding, football, ballroom and vogue, gardening, frisbee, dance, circus skills); (3) the group, organisation or project has been running for at least 6 months
- You need at least two unrelated trustees, directors or committee members, a governing document, a safeguarding policy reviewed in the last year, and a bank account in the organisation's name or a fiscal hosting account
- Groups with an active London Marathon Foundation or Go! London grant cannot apply
- You do not need to be a Consortium member; current and past Consortium grantees may apply for a different project or cost
- Priority goes to groups in historically underfunded areas (North East, East and South West of England, and Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), areas lacking LGBT+ provision including rural and remote areas, groups focused on moving people from inactive to active, and groups supporting D/deaf, disabled and/or neurodivergent LGBT+ people, LGBT+ women, LGBT+ people of faith, LGBT+ people of the global majority, older LGBT+ people, and trans, non-binary and/or intersex people
What it funds
Funded work should have a primary goal of increasing physical activity participation in LGBT+ communities, enabling individuals, particularly those who are inactive and facing barriers, to take part in sport or physical activity regularly. Costs that can be funded:
- Project and activity costs such as venue hire, refreshments, volunteer expenses, kit / equipment hire or kit / equipment purchase
- Subsidising training or activity costs, and other defined accessibility measures, to increase access for those who would struggle to attend otherwise
- Core or running costs such as staff salaries, building rent, utilities, administration, training & development costs (you should show how these practically enable you to deliver the fund's outcomes)
- Collaborative work between LGBT+ sports and physical activity groups
- Coaching qualifications and courses for group members to upskill and increase their experience
Work may also aim at one or more secondary outcomes: embedding inclusive, anti-oppressive and accessible practice; continuity plans to become stronger and more sustainable; support shaped by participants' lived experience; developing LGBT+ community members as coaches, leaders and role models; and systems change in LGBT+ sport and physical activity.
What it will not fund
- Brand new organisations or projects (delivering sports and physical activity work for less than 6 months)
- More than one application from an organisation or group per fund
- Organisations with fewer than 2 (unrelated) trustees, directors, or management committee members
- Individuals who apply other than on behalf of an LGBT+ organisation
- Statutory organisations, such as local authorities and schools
- NHS bodies
- Organisations which cannot demonstrate that they work in an inclusive, non-discriminatory way
- Organisations based outside the UK, and activities that take place outside the UK
- Standalone or large capital purchases (kit and equipment are eligible, and larger disability accessible equipment will be considered)
- Research
- Political groups
- Work that promotes religion (evangelises or proselytises)
- Organisations applying with the intention of passing the grant to a third party
- Retrospective costs, including repayment of loans
- Work that duplicates existing local or thematic work
- Organisations with an active grant from London Marathon Foundation and/or Go! London at the time of applying
- Organisations with a history of non-compliance with Consortium grant conditions
- New, standalone series of physical activity sessions from a non-sports organisation (the guidance's example of ineligible work)
