Rosa

Voices from the Frontline

Rosa's Voices from the Frontline fund gives 18-month grants of £500 to £10,000 to UK women's and girls' organisations for campaigning and influencing work that helps women and girls use their voices to achieve change. Only organisations run by, for and with women and girls are eligible, and Rosa prioritises those in the most deprived 20% of areas, in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, or led by and for Black and minoritised, disabled or LGBTQ+ women and girls. Applicants send a three-minute video alongside the form. It is competitive: in 2025, 34 of 136 eligible applications were funded.

Who can apply

  • Not-for-profit women's and girls' organisations in the UK that meet all of Rosa's definition: governed and led by women, with a board whose Chair is a woman and whose members are mostly women; an employee leadership team that is mostly women; the principal objective of working with women and/or girls; and beneficiaries who are, and will always be, mostly women and/or girls
  • Eligible types are registered charities, CICs limited by guarantee, companies limited by guarantee, constituted community organisations, CIOs and SCIOs, and community benefit societies
  • The organisation must also have a written governing document, a governing body of at least three unrelated members, a UK bank or building society account in its name with at least two unrelated signatories, at least one year of activity and a full year's annual accounts, an appropriate safeguarding policy, and no more than 12 months of expenditure held in unrestricted reserves
  • Organisations that received a grant in round 8 (awarded spring 2026) cannot apply
  • Priority goes to organisations operating in the most deprived 20% of areas, based in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, or led by and for Black and minoritised, disabled or LGBTQ+ women and girls, while panels aim for a spread of local and national campaigns across the UK

What it funds

Campaigning and influencing work that raises women's and girls' voices and challenges inequality, including:

  • Campaigning for changes in policy and laws
  • Influencing central or local government
  • Influencing community leaders and power holders about issues that affect women and girls in a particular place or community
  • Training professionals working with women and girls to ensure their needs are met
  • Gathering evidence or producing tools which enable women and girls and women's organisations to campaign for change
  • Social media, video and media campaigns about specific issues facing women
  • Training activists in campaigning, advocacy, lobbying or public speaking in order to support a particular campaign

Budgets can include staff costs (existing, new or sessional), project costs such as equipment, training, venue hire, volunteer costs, childcare, interpreters, survey design, video editing, travel and refreshments, and other costs. Rosa funds organisations that have identified the issue they want to campaign on, understand their audience, and are ready to start or have started their campaign.

What it will not fund

  • International work: only projects focused on women and girls in the UK and on influencing change in the UK
  • Responsibilities of statutory agencies
  • Profit-making work
  • Party political activity
  • Activities promoting religious beliefs
  • Applications from individuals
  • Overseas travel
  • Interest payments on loans
  • Building purchase
  • Costs your organisation has already incurred (retrospective costs)

How to apply

  1. Read the application guidance and FAQs, and attend a How to Apply webinar if you can (5 November 2026, 2-3pm, with BSL; a recording of the 20 October session is available on request)
  2. Submit the brief online registration form, which checks eligibility; you are then emailed a link to the application form
  3. Complete and submit the online application form, including the supporting documents
  4. Send a video of no more than three minutes by WeTransfer to grants@rosauk.org, saying what you want to change, who you want to influence, what you will do and what challenges you expect
  5. Submit both the form and the video by 4pm on Monday 16 November 2026
  6. Rosa checks eligibility, shortlists, and a grants panel of women with relevant expertise decides; applicants are notified in March 2027

Applications missing any step are not accepted. Video quality is not judged; a phone video is fine. Successful grantees report mid-way and at the end of the grant.

Have ready

  • Signed annual accounts for your most recent financial year (published accounts, not drafts)
